Hong Kong 1949

Here I will introduce to you to the first of the wonderful films shot by Michael Rogge.

This one was shot as he arrived in 1949 and gives you a feel for the colony in those days.

The squatter huts, Aberdeen harbour, the Hong Kong Club, The Hongkong & Shanghai Bank, Junks, Sampans, the burgeoning textile and other factories fuelled by cheap labour as described in my novel, and much more.

Interesting at the end he says he spent six years in Hong Kong, ‘the best of my life’.

I understand why he said that.

If you are interested in old Hong Kong enjoy.
